Elgin, Ill. — Athletics has announced that Head Men’s Soccer Coach Rafa Heck has been promoted to Associate Athletic Director, effective immediately, while continuing in his role as head coach of the men’s soccer program.
In his expanded administrative role, Heck will provide leadership in strategic athletic department planning, facility operations, and departmental initiatives, while assisting the Athletic Director with both daily operations and long-term program development. His proven leadership, organizational insight, and commitment to excellence have played a significant role in the continued growth of Athletics.
Heck recently completed his seventh season as head men’s soccer coach, compiling 80 career victories during his tenure. Under his leadership, the program captured the 2024 NCCAA National Championship, marking a historic milestone and the seventh national title in program history. Following the championship season, Heck was named the 2024 NCCAA National Head Coach of the Year.
“Rafa’s impact on Athletics extends well beyond competitive success,” said Athletic Director Rick Williams. “His strategic mindset, commitment to student-athlete development, and proven leadership make him an invaluable member of our administrative team. This promotion reflects both his accomplishments and the confidence we have in his continued leadership.”
Heck will continue to lead the men’s soccer program while contributing to department-wide initiatives aimed at strengthening ’s athletics programs and supporting long-term institutional success.
