FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[ELGIN, Ill. – January 23, 2026] and Ambria College of Nursing are pleased to announce approval from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the Illinois Board of Nursing to officially offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
With state approval secured, the BSN program represents the next phase of ’s healthcare education strategy, expanding bachelor’s-level nursing access while building on Ambria College of Nursing’s successful LPN, RN, and LPN-to-RN pathways. The program now serves the region as one of a limited number of locally accessible BSN options.
“This represents an important milestone for and Ambria as we work to address the growing demand for well-prepared nurses,” said Dr. Gene Crume, President of . “By combining ’s Christ-centered academic foundation with Ambria’s proven excellence in nursing education, we are preparing students for professional competence, service, and leadership.”
The approval comes at a time when healthcare systems across Illinois continue to face nursing shortages and increasing demand for bachelor’s-prepared nurses. As patient care grows more complex, BSN education plays a vital role in preparing nurses for evidence-based practice, leadership, and long-term service to their communities. Expanding local access to BSN education also supports workforce retention in Kane County and the greater Chicagoland area.
“Our focus has always been on educating nurses who are compassionate, skilled, and ready to serve,” said Cathi Schlosser, Director of Nursing. “This BSN program allows us to extend that mission by introducing the profession of nursing to a new population of students, while continuing to uphold the high academic and clinical standards our programs are known for.”
The BSN curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practice, ethical decision-making, and comprehensive clinical preparation.
“This program was designed intentionally to meet the realities of today’s healthcare environment,” said Malwina Kuczynska, Professor and Chair of the Nursing Program. “Our goal is to equip future nurses with the critical thinking skills, confidence, and clinical excellence they need to succeed.”
